"Record Store Day 2018"

How ya'll make out?

I copped the only albums I wanted...The Nas and the Prince.

Picked up the John Coltrane "My Favorite Things" 45 purely out of impulse...smh.

Truly used some teamwork this year with my daughter and her friends. They stayed in the 2 1/2 hour long line at Criminal, and as soon as she got in, I was on the phone like "Do you see the Prince? Grab it! Do you see the RTJ? Grab that for my homie! I'll meet you at the door with a credit card! I got your homies Fleet Foxes record already, so don't look for that!"

Ya'll get what ya'll wanted??

And those friends have friends in line at other record stores to keep an eye out for things we're looking for and vice versa.

I got everything I planned for plus others I hadn't:

David Axelrod - Songs of Experience (I already had this but it had gotten beaten up over the years)

Prince -1999 (same, OG copy from my dad's stash was pretty rough lookin')

Nas - Illmatic (National Symphony Orchestra)

Baby Huey - Living Legend

9th Wonder - Zion II

Pink Floyd - Piper At The Gates of Dawn (Mono)

Cymade - Promised Heights and Second Time Around

Jimmy Castor - Just Begun

Robert Glasper and Kaytranada - The ArtScience Remixes EP

I don't like the beat anymore because its just a loop. ALC didn't FLIP IT ENOUGH!

Flip it enough? Flip these. Flip off. Go flip some f*cking burgers.(c)Kno

I requested a few leftovers from Turntable Lab, but even that was a struggle. Nothing really stood out as a must-have.

Usually there's only a handful of things, but this year there was a good amount.
Only was able to get a few day of, but, there's a great indie shop in the States I was able to order from the day after and have shipped, and they all arrived yesterday.
What I got, and fully recommend others checking out:

- Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio "Live at KEXP" (the cover of "Move on Up" is excellent, pretty much the reason I bought this)
- Tim Armstrong "A Poet's Life" (1st time on vinyl, his solo record with The Aggrolites as his band)
- Other Side of Sun Records Vol. 2 comp
- Run The Jewels box (splurge of the day, and unfortunately overpaid for was it was ....)
- Los Sospechos "Postales" soundtrack (re-issue, I actually won this on IG)
- Dap-Kings "Look Closer Instrumentals"
- Baby Huey re-issue with instrumentals
- Eli Paperboy Reed & The High and Mighty Brass Band Live
- The Kills Live
- Dilla Ruff Draft re-issue
- Lyrics Born Later That Day re-issue

In response to Reply # 9

Me and homie have an instagram page (@thirtythree.three) where we show nothing but records. I posted my RSD purchases, but he never went into detail what all was in that box. Killa Mike showed up at one of the stores did and signed stuff for those who bought it from that particular store.

Really mad I didnt get the RATM jawn...like, sick about it.

It is obviously a unique piece and I'm a fan so glad to get the 12", but, in the long run not too worried about the alternate Marvel art, the slip mat is really nice, but again a bit of a novelty. Not mad about it, but my local shop said they weren't going to get it, so I bought it somewhere else, and then the following week my shop called to say they did get it, and it was $25 less then wait I paid. So glad to have it, but wish I got it for $25 less!
6 of the albums all arrived together yesterday, so looking forward to new tunes for the next while!
