I'm far from a backpacker, but I'll be damned if I let someone shame me into respecting her as an artist. I love the person, respect her hustle, and wish nothing but success in her career, but I stop short of embracing her "contribution" to this art form. It's background music to me, and will always be.

A stand out even. Maybe even likely to be a single since she performed it on SNL. ______________________________________________________________________________

it's surprisingly introspective, not because it's Cardi, anyone who pays attention to her IG knows she gets insightful, but I thought she was just gunna go pure slappers route, which there is a healthy amount of...
She Bad is my fav joint
Be Careful gunna, prob already creeping, towards being a hit
Drip, Bickenhead, I Do are other favorites
she should've put Bodak at the end tho. It's so ubiquitous at this point, it fucks up the flow of the album IMO

The first 2 mix tapes only had one kind of bop, delivery wise. So it's refreshing to listen to someone take the craft seriously and WANT to get better.
She could've skated by with the one or two flows she had and gotten plenty of sales, streams, etc.
But she hunkered down in the lab with a team and got better as an emcee.
Props to her.
One thing tho! I wish either Cardi or someone on her team would've thought of Pun while making the album.
They missed a golden opportunity to utilize 'You Came Up' off of Capital Punishment. The theme of 'You Came Up' fits her story to a T, coulda got NORE on the hook. Wouldn't have been a single but an updated version with someone like Boi-1da or Harry Fraud flipping the sample?

This Album is actually pretty good. The Chickenhead(Bickenhead) joint has some tough rhymes on it...
and I cant see how anybody can front on Get up 10... its a straight up heater....
I didnt expect to like it that much but shout out to her team...
You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Cant say theres anything i would go back to but definitely better than I expected. Production is good, most hooks are good. Her rapping is catchy, might not have any lines that will go down as the greatest but definitely enjoyable.
Would like to hear her do more bilingual/latin stuff.
