Delicious Vinyl just announced it. Said he died after a brief illness.

I'd forgotten just how much he produced back in the late '80s. Besides "Paul's Boutique," he was invovlved in all of the first albums of Young MC and Tone Loc, and some of Def Jef's best material from his first album.

The Chemical Brothers first went by the Dust Brothers but had to change their name.

Obviously Paul's Boutique is an underrated gem. Also, the Fight Club soundtrack they produced was gold too.

...but the Dust Brothers mostly handled production duties on the Slim Shady LP. I just loved the production on that album - a weird mix of dusty but mainstream. Like underground but accessible.

RIP

He produced along side the Dust Brothers but wasn't a member. Those guys are E.Z. Mike (Michael Simpson) and King Gizmo (John King). He stepped away from the label and production relatively early on.
