He did the same thing with Rosebudd's Revenge in terms of selling the digital copy of the album first. I'm guessing RR sold fairly well, so I don't see why he wouldn't release physical copies for this album.

It's a moot point now, but there was a $25 pre-order price for the digital copy of this album. Still a but too steep for me liking since I'm old school in wanting something I can hold in my hands in any types of media I consume, but I suppose that's just me.

Rosebud Revenge
Marci Beacoup
Reloaded

are all designed well.... shit, at least compared to the un-godly amount of terrible hip-hop album art we generally see.

ie - the new daz album.....

>RR looks like a bootleg ass soundtrack to GTA

LOL - ok fair enough, maybe designed "well" is pushing it, but terrible feels kinda extreme. I mean WTF are you comparing it to in the category of hip-hop albums? Are they works of art? no, but terrible.... if these are terrible, what is your threshold.

Hard to defend RR but Marcy Beacoup is clean enough... as well as re-loaded.

Especially for the big ass digi pack medium they used.

Marci was random and had nothing to do with the album.

I appreciate good artwork which is why I still cop physical copies.

Rhymesayers has the best artwork in the game and have for a long time.

Haven’t seen that new Step Brothers but it looks similar to the last which was great execution.

You have to cop the physical joints to see how the design and packaging work together.

His beats are audio NyQuil and have been for the last few albums. He really needs to fix that. That whole, subdued, no drums added, soul sample thing works better for Ka's voice and style (and even there it gets old after a while).

I'm pretty certain Roc Marciano did the majority of the beats for this, at least based on the tracklisting I saw on his social media postings recently.

$15 sure, I don't mind supporting the artist directly. $20 I'll think about it. $30?? Go fuck yourself. We all know its going to be on all the streaming services sooner or later anyway. Even when people actually bought music, no one would have paid $30 for an album and you would have gotten a physical copy too.

There are a few artists I would pay $30 for. Roc Marciano isn't one of them. Like I said though, I would still have gladly paid him $15-20. I guess the strategy of selling less for more must be the better way to go.

i won't say it's better than Pt. 1, but i appreciate the subtle ways that sets this album apart from the rest of his catalogue (the humor, the electronic-leaning/synthy beats)

If you like Roc's production he produced an EP for an artist named Muja Messiah called Saran Rap. It's on Man Bites Dog. Features from Guilty Simpson, Oh No and Bronze Nazareth. Link below.

Like the last few albums of his now I kinda hit a wall around the 6 or 7th track. Same type of beats and lyrical content. Same tone. A lotta interchangeable tracks that wouldn't be missed.

I'm cool with his lane. It's a lane I like and I don't really want him to change, but I wouldn't be mad at an EP or short, 10 track album.

I get wanting it to sound low budget and true to form but there’s a line between that and being sloppy.

Roc borders on the sloppy side and he could benefit from getting a pro to record and mix his shit better imo.

Roc at this point has enough clout to assemble a real crew to make a truly professional album. Imagine a Roc album w/ Alch, Knxledge, Pete Rock level producers mixed and mastered by a Dave Cooley level guy? Damn.

I know there's a subjective fine line between grimey, lofi that still sounds "good" and then lofi that just sounds cheap or lazy, but yeah sometimes Roc Marc be trending to the latter.

Bitter Dose overall sounds better to me than Rosebud's Revenge, though.

i didnt really enjoy kaos or behold a dark horse. i didnt dislike them but for some reason they just didnt connect with me. this one hit me, not sure i can explain why.

favorite tracks:
Respected
Bohemian Grove
Saks Fifth
Bed Spring King
67 Lobby
Power

maybe i will have more appreciation for the other two albums after listening to this one.

Dark House was a mess, and Kaos was great but was a Muggs
album. I'm still processing it but it didn't entirely work
for me.

You have good taste, though. So I obviously respect
your opinion.

This album had a special vibe specific to Roc, and it was cohesive for the album, something that lacks on Behold. Kaos is great to me too, but like someone else pointed out is a collaborative album and thus very different imo.
