While E's production pedigree is outstanding (EPMD, Hit Squad, Deaf Squid (c), and solo)

Large Pro wins based on ghost producing Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em (as a kid no less), Wanted Dead or Alive, ill remixes like Gotta Get Over, It's a Boy, Resurrection, his own LP and 1st class, Illmatic, and of course the crown jewel: Breaking Atoms

And on the mic its no contest- dude that milked your cow: in other words, he hit your heifer

Agreed...and I believe I read somewhere that E might of had some Ghost producers doing his stuff for a period of time, on some Dr. Dre type ish...that said, I love Hit Squad, EPMD, and all that E stuff he is credited for...

Funcrusher Plus and Cold Vein proves you don’t know you know what you’re talking about.

Large Pro and Sermon did not revolutionize beat making. Others from their time period such as Preem, Dre and Prince Paul can lay claim to that title

>edans best album doesnt improve on the style large pro

More stupidity on your part, but even if I broke this down to you your simple mind couldn’t understand it.

Lastly we are talking producer/MC in which the individuals that are better. Hell I didn’t even mention RZA.

smfh... i like co flow and el-p dont get me wrong but them albums dont compare to breaking atoms or any of those early epmd albums

>Large Pro and Sermon did not revolutionize beat making.
>Others from their time period such as Preem, Dre and Prince
>Paul can lay claim to that title

smfh... erick sermon basically provided the blueprint for G funk... was the first to be all up on george clinton and the funk... but you wouldnt know because youre a johnny come lately

and you can listen to large pro's work and hear how many techniques he revolutionized. preem and pete would tell you he taught them advanced techniques

>>edans best album doesnt improve on the style large pro
>>introduced in 1990.

edan's album doesnt do anything large pro wasnt doing early 90s and its most definitely not better than breaking atoms

>Lastly we are talking producer/MC in which the individuals
>that are better. Hell I didn’t even mention RZA.

large pro and erick sermon are bettern than edan and el-p on the mic and on the boards. in a runaway.

No...we are talking about Large Pro and Erick Sermon.

You’re the one that brought other names up which ultimately makes you look like you have an agenda.

No one asked you shit about El-P or Madlib.

But since you brought them up...Madlib sucks on the mic.

Breaking Atoms is not on the level of Funcrush. The EPMD albums were better than that. EL-P’s work is clearly better. All you can really name from large pro is Breaking Atoms

Sermon started it, but Dre mastered it. It’s not about who’s first always, it is about those who mastered their craft. You can say what you want about LP, but during the early 90’s Preem, Pete, and Dre were the most sought after producers.

Apparently you need to revisit Beauty and the Beat. They are not seeing Edan or EL-Producto on the boards or mic.

Madlib by far is better on the boards and mic. When RZA came on the scene he pretty much took over three next 2-3 years.

it may not be as far out as those albums in regard to scope, but you're bugging on this one. You'd ve hard pressed to find an album that's as consistent from song to song, cycle to cycle and side to side as Breaking Atoms.

I think he just made better songs on the whole, and his sound appealed to me more.

LP was a better rapper, but not to such a degree that I like his music better too. Great producer too, I just like Erick’s beats better on the whole. I think Erick has become hugely underrated with time.

Sorry as much as I like Large Professor, Erick Sermon has dope beats & rhymes since the 80's while Xtra P. is just an underground legend and gets respect but not on the level that Erick Sermon is.

You have to go back 25 years to talk about him being a part of anything great.

Sermon had bigger hits.

LP was a better rapper.

Both have MANY classics under their belt.

But LP had the Turntable backpack, fam.

I'm going with Large Pro...

Rap World beat was CRAZY!

For the people, I just wanna chill, Mad Scientist, It's Da Biz!

I'm not gonna doubt the duo of Nas & Large Pro

BUT

E-Double did produce most of Muddy Waters...and E-Double with Redman had some CLASSICS, and can go toe-to-toe with anybody

E-double got the hits and rhyme longevity over Xtra P. Large Pro is dope for sure but his production is more moody, gritty, and at times darker.

... and that it's not really close.

Admittedly, I'm not a true NYC rap head and when EPMD broke, my tastes were more rooted in funk, so some of LP's music was out of my comfort zone.

I like Large Professor. Breaking Atoms has some heat. I love Keep It Rollin' off of Midnight Marauders.

But Erick has been part of a platinum rap group and broke artists who also have gold and platinum albums.

I guess you could argue that LP's peak was better, but aside from 93 - 95, what else has he really done? His style is still essentially the same, while Erick's sound has evolved from hard funk to more minimalist beats towards the Music days.

And Erick to me is the better rapper.
