"Albums/Artists that were big at the time, but now are mostly forgotten"

Tim Dog came on shuffle on my iPhone today and it made me think that you never really hear anyone talk about him anymore. Penecillin on Wax was a fairly big album at the time but you never hear him played on throwback playlists or on Sirius backspin. It made me think of some other artists that have mostly been forgotten:

X-Clan: 2 classic albums and they were big back in 1989-1990 but they never get the respect they deserve today
Domino: Ghetto Jam was a huge hit but you never hear it today. Coolio, Skeelo and Ahmad still get occasional play, but never Domino

What are some other forgotten artists or albums?

He's obviously one of the top MC's, especially for his time. But his legacy has been overlooked for the most part.

While Tha Dogg Pound is still making music, you rarely hear about them. Especially since Dogg Food went double platinum and had some solid hits.

I think with Kane, his taste of chocolate album really hurt him. There were so many eyes on hip hop as well as new fans joining around that time that a good album would garner respect today. For him to drop his first mediocre album after nothing but classics at this exact time is what doesn’t get him his respect today.

wrote big time money cuts for Tone Loc
and had a successful solo career.

"Bust a Move" was the best song that Will Smith never did in his solo career IMO

his second album was kinda dope and mostly produced by Ali Shaheed Muhammad.

I guess he fell into that new jack trap where hip-hop didn't take him serious as a One Hit wonder dude. And he wanted to make a 'real' hip-hop album the second time around
