with some claiming that Em is about to release a "4:44" on the basis of this. While I understand why it is being made because of the honest/reflective content of Em's song and the fact 4:44 just came out I have a few issues with it, namely:
1) Jay-Z is not even close to the first to put out a grown man record (see Nas' Life Is Good or even, if we are going less mainstream, Cormega's Mega Philosophy etc.), I realize that because of Jay's status whenever someone does something relatively grown it will be compared to 4:44 (which is a dope record) but still
2) Jay-Z did it sans the irritating flow/delivery. Though that's just my take - Despite his obvious lyrical talent, I haven't liked Em' in damn near over a decade
3) Jay-Z did it over No ID beats, not radio-ready, basically beat-less, piano backing that is closer to a potential Adele or John Legend single than anything on 4:44
i only made the comparison because 4:44 was recent and because jay and em are on the same level celebrity wise. i wasn't really looking any deeper into it.
