I haven't heard the album yet, checking it out this weekend. The only song I listened to was w/Cee-Lo & Sleepy, that makes 2 people that got Lo to actually rap and not just sing the hook.

There’s always one song I love so much on first listen that I don’t even listen to the whole album for weeks because I’m so stuck on one joint.

Hometown Hero, R4 Theme Song, 4evaNaDay, Hydroplanin, Soul Food, and now Layup.

GOAT
AOTY
top 5, 10...
ETC

He has quite the catalog, and while his impact commercially and culturally doesn't really warrant GOAT status we should be talking about this guy much more.

That said I hate 1999, that song is as wack as it's namesake year in hip hop(was that the point?)

ride with me is lack luster.

other than that....It's a classic(lol)

and when I say "album" I mean it's not just your usual collection of comparatively random songs. He really knows how to put together an album and serve it from beginning to end. And I also love the fact that it's not all trap and shit, and it actually gives him room to do different things with his rapping. Bury Me In Gold might be this year's best closer. The only gripe I have is that the vocals sit too far in front of the music, like I want to hear how his verses sit IN the music more, so I can't really enjoy it as much as I'd like to.

Production is A-1 top notch.
He spitting real shit on here.
Hooks are on point, catchy, and memorable.
He doesn't rely on the Migos flow.

Why did he bleep out the artist on classic interlude?

Part two of the album is more introspective than the first one. My only gripe with the album is my selfish request for more introspection over slowed down production. It's there but not consistent enough for my personal tastes but the album is still great and goes hard.

This whole album is fuego. Are there physical CDs available because I need this in my life now. Spotify is cool but give me the physical.

KRIT has a top five hip-hop name because it's so meaning in that name. You might not understand his greatness at the moment but will because kings are remembered in time. Younger artists come back and study his material to build their foundation.

i made it about 2/3 of the way through the album and liked maybe 2-3 songs, and only for the instrumentals, and one of them sounded exactly like something from /aquemini/. i don't think he brings much in the way of new or interesting production or rapping. he's definitely a student of southern rap, but that's all i get from him. most of his music sounds like recreations or reinterpretations of older southern rapping and sampling. it's all very refined and the scope of the album is huge (it feels and sounds like a legendary 70s rock studio album, which is quite an achievement) but musically it's too traditional for my taste

i will say that his singing on this album is very impressive and i wouldn't be shocked if he went full throwback soul/r&b on a future project

I get that. He's more down to earth than Outkast though and I enjoy his sound more than Dungeon Family. He isn't doing anything mind-blowingly new, but I do think he's bringing a different perspective that you don't hear much in rap. It's like southern blue collar rap. Who else is doing this now, and doing it this well? Surely not Kast or DF.

I just think this album is so well-done, and he pushes the envelope just enough on a few songs (like Keep the Devil Off, for instance)...for this album to be a standout.

In other words, I agree with you over all...but still enjoying the hell out of this album.

That said, I would really to start seeing him focus more on producing for other artists.

I think I read he is producing an album for Bun? More of that please.

I'm mad I copped the digital instead of the physical.

I haven't kept up with all of his stuff, kind of checked out because IMO he got too repetitive.

But this?

This is the album I kind of expected him to drop after his first 2 big mixtapes.

Not sure why he doesn't get the love that say Oddisee gets. KRIT is far more engaging and 100% less preachy.

This really delivered on the hype that seems to be growing organically. Good for him.

I think stepping away from Krit's music for a couple years also let me appreciate how good he is at producing and how good of a rapper he's become, or how much he's grown, I always thought he was good on the mic.

but yeah, there are some joints on here

Been playing the whole album multiple times and loving it. This is great music.

Only problem I’m having is wishing it was Devin on 1999 instead of Lloyd. How much more fun would that be?

Really liking the rapping on this and a lot of the beats and hooks hit me more after multiple listens. That Cee-Lo joint....so good.
