"Poll question: Which of these non-classic Wu debuts is your fav?"
Okay, doubt Ugod gets a single vote but included him anyways. I feel like the other members have either classics or borderline classics. Some disagree on Tical but it at very least has a few classic songs altho one was the remix.
No Said Date is probably most consistent but I don't think I'd vote for it as I never listen to it. I'd prob go with Bobby Digital here or Pillage maybe, idk. As much as I like Deck, I've never enjoyed an album of his.
I was disappointed with the Cappa album when it dropped
I was cool with the MK joint but it was too little too late at that point even though it was a nice surprise.
Never a RZA fan on the mic.
I’m assuming you didn’t include outside members like Killah Preist and La the Darkman for a reason because those two are better than all of these joints.

I love everything about that record the mistakes the repeated verses the Portishead sample the Domestic Violence argument (I've had that argument...bastard! bastard! bastard!) Ultimate Breakbeats and shit...looping the same shit for a thousand years the slow grind interludes the spanish singing
I was out of control when it came out so I related personally to it (drugs, women, wildin out, fighting, drinking, etc) RZA was just barely above U-God in the rhyme dept but he made it work on this

i was always a fan of it too
don't love it as much now as then, but once "NYC Everything" hits, that albums has a LOT of goods:
Mantist Holocaust Terrorist - so fucn ridiculous, in good ways Bobby Did It - Timbo Kings verse is flames Handwriting on the Wall Kiss of the Black Widow - ODB is my soul on that shit: free Project Talk Daily Routine

"Uncontrolled" has some definite heat on it, but there's also a lot of "meh." Which is disappointing, because Deck was then and remains a top tier Wu MC. I really liked most of "Bobby Digitial" overall, especially the bonus/"RZA" cuts. And RZA kills it on the mic overall on the album.
Not saying it isn’t a step down from the classics by any means but when I played it recently, I feel like it caught some unfair hate.
It’s not nearly as consistently dope as the classics nor does it have the atmosphere and story LS and CL do but there weren’t tracks I was saying “this shit is wack”.

When I say "meh," I mean boring and unremarkable, not necessarily wack. And it's due to the beats, rather than the rhymes.
Like I said above, I don't hate it at all. Shoot, I wanted to vote for it, and I'll say it gets a lot of underserved shit. But it could and should have been better. Honestly, I've always maintained that Deck was the Wu member that was hurt the most by the "flood" of RZA's basement, whichever one did end destroying his album.
Dope stuff: Femme Fatale Grand Prix Word on the Street Elevation Trouble Man REC Room Friction Hyperdermix Show N Prove
"Meh" stuff: Movas and Shakas 9th Chamber Uncontrolled Substance Forget Me Nots Longevity (Wanted to put it in the dope category due to the lyrics, but beat is just too blah) Lovin You The Cause

I barely skip anything on Cappa's debut and I can say for 19 years now when I go through my "play everything Wu" phases when I get past the first two group albums and first wave of solos "The Pillage" is that next tier I hit first. RZA had stepped down at this point as far as producing most/all the tracks and I had no problem whatsoever with Tru Master, 4th Disciple, Mathematics, and whoever else chipped in. I totally bought Cappa's slang editorial.
"Bobby Digital" on the other hand was not what I wanted to hear from The RZA in any sense and even once getting past my expectations of what I wanted I still didn't enjoy what was presented. I didn't like the keyboard, "digitally orchestrated" beats. I hated how he sounded on the beats. The explanation behind Bobby Digital, why it existed, and why it came before and ultimately replaced his long-awaited "Cure" album was dumb.
Like most everyone else here when ranking Wu MC's I have U-God last, but I honestly liked his debut and mess with some of those songs still. I expected more from RZA.
__ I don't like the beat anymore because its just a loop. ALC didn't FLIP IT ENOUGH!
Flip it enough? Flip these. Flip off. Go flip some f*cking burgers.(c)Kno

I need to revisit Uncontolled S cause that shit was wack to me when it dropped. I was pretending to love it, before I was like nah. One of the biggest disappointments.
