"Open Mike Eagle - Brick Body Kids Still Daydream"
Wed Sep-20-17 08:19 PM by Kosa12

This may be his best album yet. One of the best albums of the year so far IMO. A lot more somber and serious than his past work (which I also enjoy a lot) - probably due to how close he is to the content (destruction of Robert Taylor Homes in Chicago). "TLDR (Smithing", "My Auntie's Building" and "(How Could Anybody) Feel At Home".

Anyway, I wrote about it in detail here: https://rateyourmusic.com/collection/Kosa12/rating89991645

I know we have some OME fans here

I've streamed it a few times, and in some ways it does sound like his best album. Especially like the production choices.

I check for: Serengeti, Zeroh, Open Mike Eagle, Jeremiah Jae, Moka Only.

you can tell how much the content means to him IMO, production wise it's fantastic as well, however, so was his last record with Paul White. Right now I couldn't say which one is better, but my initial reaction to this has been stronger probably.

For me, it was huge stepdown from Dark Comedy and A Special Episode...

How does this new one compare to Dark Comedy?

but at the same time I wouldn't say that because you didn't like the Paul White album, you won't like this one, the vibe here is much more low key

Dark Comedy has ended up being one of my most listened to hip hop albums over the last couple of years. I've only listened to this one once, so haven't had the time to absorb it. But it sounded great off the first listen. The production is a little more low key and the content is more serious, though still some funny moments. I don't remember the exact tracks, but the middle of the album sounded fantastic. I look forward to listening again tonight.

He nailed it. This is probably his best overall album. Definitely his most consistent.

"Happy Wasteland Day" should be officially named the theme song for the sh!ttiness that is 2017.

Don't sleep.
