"Name the best artist or album never to go Platinum."
Fri Sep-08-17 08:48 PM by obsidianchrysalis

My guesses for artist are KRS-ONE and The Velvet Underground. According to the RIAA database - https://www.riaa.com/gold-platinum/ - KRS has never even gone Gold. I don't know how accurate that is. I would think one of I Got Next might have gone at least Gold, but it isn't in their database. Was that album before Soundscan?

I would have thought The Velvet Underground and Nico would have been at least Gold as well, but apparently, according to Wikipedia, it's only been at least Gold in Italy and England.

Interesting.

EDIT: Wikipedia says that I Got Next went Gold. My bad.

It appears neither Mos nor Talib have gone gold or platinum. I would have thought for sure Black on Both Sides would have done it.

You're such pests...now, what is it you want? In your depths of your ignorance, what is it you want? Well, whatever it is you want, I can't deliver because I just don't see it. - Orson Welles

My *wrong* guess was based on KRS's solo career, but yeah BDP had some commercial success.

Though there is nothing about sales on her wiki, I'm just going to assume she never went plat for obvious reasons

Snow never went platinum.

Edit: Nope both "Informer" and "12 inches of snow" went platinum.

Doesn't seem like real important milestone now, does it?
