Prince definitely has respect for Flyte Tyme and Control b/c i've seen him play 'What Have You Done For Me Lately' in concert a couple of times. HE never sang it, of course - he had one of his woman back-up singers handle the vocals. the same way he treated MJ's 'Don't Stop Til You Get Enough'. lol

I wish Prince could have sung those, on stage... once.
I know why he didn't. But still.
Just the idea of him acknowledging the outside world feels like a revelation.

he played lots of them in concert but i think he was throwing shade by always having a woman back-up singer handle vocals on MJ covers.
but he'd sing the hell out of a James Brown cover, among many others. i saw him do that a lot. and he had no problem singing covers of songs originally made by women. so the MJ thing seemed to be shade of some sort. or maybe i'm overthinking it.
