"R.I.P. Walter Becker of Steely Dan"

Some of the best music of my life was made by Becker and Fagan. Salute.

...I'm from the era when A.I. was the answer, now they think ai is the answer - Marlon Craft

At least I got to see them a few times in the 2000s.

Steely Dan is my favorite group of any genre, and more influential than most people realize. Certainly an inspiration to me and many others.

I listened to all the 70s steely dan albums a lot when I was younger but haven't really listened to the full albums in years. classic stuff

I posted about this on FB, but 10-12 years ago I made an effort to check out albums from titan, "pillars of the genre" type artists outside of my usual hip-hop, r'n'b, soul selections. I had a fat gift card and used that as an excuse to cop some classics from the 60's and 70's. That included Steely Dan and I went with "Aja" as that was the one I had heard of the most.

That album had a big impact on me as up until then I didn't know much about "rock" that wasn't heavily focused around electric guitars being front and center. I don't want to get too hung up on labels, but that "jazz rock" Aja sound directed me to stuff like Frank Zappa, Weather Report, Soft Machine. I LIKE classic rock, but I really liked the stuff with jazz (and other genre) influences that you hear on Aja.

I don't like the beat anymore because its just a loop. ALC didn't FLIP IT ENOUGH!

Flip it enough? Flip these. Flip off. Go flip some f*cking burgers.(c)Kno
