4th and Broadway village NYC Tower Records era (over the rock floor -ground floor - main floor of the store).

that Mulu CD hit that store hard.

I guess trip-hop lit me up....I doubt I'm the only New Yorker/American who was hit hard by trip-hop the way people usually respond whenever Esthero's "breath from another" is brought up in the Lesson and GD.

yep, trip-hop and the late 90's.....yes

>Xzibit - 40 Dayz & 40 Nightz

I played this joint to death in 98. Xzibit was legit a Top 5 favorite rapper for me from 96-00. I loved his mixture of east/west style.

With a few cuts, this album would be one of my favorites. Listening now I wish some of the skits, Pussy Pop (maybe the most disappointing feature of ALL-TIME right here), Shroomz, and Nobody Sound Like Me were cut.

Yea likewise. His voice was also dope as fuck, and his energy was infectious. He's actually done some people good work in the years since Restless/Man vs. Machine but nothing compares to his first 3-4 albums.

You know I used to skip over most of those (though Shroomz always made me laugh) but nowadays I just play it through. Those songs aren't, like, grating-to-the-ears bad to me, just average and below the otherwise lofty standards of the rest of the tracks on that album.

But yea - like you I played that album to death when it came out on my Discman. And for years since. Think I even put "Focus" on my high school's pregame mixtape to play over the loudspeakers in like 2000 or 2001. Mostly an excellent album that provides a heavy dose of nostalgia as well.

Those could all have snuck in. I actually came exceptionally close to putting Malibu in there because it was in rotation for so long but I nixed it last minute. Could sneak in at any time.

Phonte Coleman - Charity Starts At Home

This album was in rotation for so long! A it is MANDATORY listening for all men ages between 28-35! You MUST listen to it...playbook for life!

In response to Reply # 29

I forgot thrash metal in spite of it being first music that turned me "nerd". Oh well...

Slayer-Reign in blood
Metallica-Ride...
Sodom-Agent orange
Exodus-bonded by blood
sepultura-beneat te remains

Some more "obscure" records I dug a lot and still enjoy:

Sacrifice-Torment in fire (CANADA!!!)
Infernäl Mäjesty-None sall defy (CANADA pt2!!!)
Onslaught-Power from hell
Morbid Saint-Spectrum of death (*the* revisionist classic, I missed it of course as did "everyone" but it deserves revisionist props!!!)
Pestilence-Malleus Maleficarum (Consuming impulse is of course doper, not fully same genre doug)...

The reggae and-especially-thrash records are not necessarily contenders for top 25 (seriously, Infernäl mäjesty? Top 25 of all time???). Rather, that was a drunken stream-of-consciousness follow-up and thus off-topic. however, going off topic is hardly unusual here so whatever...

Furthermore, I forgot Jimi, the weird Captain and LOTS of 60's stuff in generalseveral others on my "main" list which of course meant that I could have derailed the thread even more! Whatever...

Meanwhile, here are my favorite porno-grind records:

Nah...

EDIT:And 12 point buck is REALLY not a top 25 record...

... some folks mentioning it in this post, and haven't been able to stop listening to it. Prior to this week I probly hadn't listened to this album front to back in 5+ years. I still think I prefer Voodoo SLIGHTLY but damn, this album is fucking *beautiful*. The compositions are chill-inducing. Amazing to think this dude was 21(?) when he recorded this.

What an incredible talent he is.
