I know there are a good amount of people who've had experience in the music industry, as artists/DJs/producers/management/etc. & we get a lot of cool insights from folks like Double O for example.
Just figured I'd throw a couple questions that come to mind.
Are artists paying each other for features on mixtapes/free projects? how does that work?
I was listening to C$/DZA's mixtape & there's a French Montana feature. It was just a mixtape, didn't get any visuals, didn't really make much noise, but there's a verse from French Montana on a song. Now, if it was a retail album, I always imagine the labels get involved negotiating prices/royalties/etc., but for something like this, how does it happen?
How many former artists that we'd know are now doing something even bigger behind the scenes? I remember when A$AP Rocky/Mob first got big, Chace Infinite was doing some management type stuff for them.
