"New Sean Price album Imperius Rex drops on August 8th."
According to the recent feed from Duck Down's twitter account, a new posthumous Sean Price album is coming out on August 8th. Aside from new Sean Price material in general, I am personally happy this is coming out since this means I'll finally own an Alchemist produced Sean Price song I've heard roughly two years ago. From what I've seen, Sean Price's wife was working on the finishing touches on this, so it'll be interesting to see what her influences were on the final product.

i was actually lucky enough to buy a copy with the original artwork that copies stevie's (it was found out to be a copyright issue and they changed the art so apparently its a collectors item)
but yes he sounded very bad...like he was struggling through his bars. it was sad. but it was P and a sick P is still better than 95% of rappers

Not sure when this new material was recorded but I'm hoping it's either slightly older bars or maybe they were able to capture "good" days when he didn't sound as bad.

this his rumored health issues pertaining to his voice mainly because I didn't for certain he had issues before he passed, but I have to admit his voice sounds a bit off from the tracks I've played from the new album so far. Dunno if shoddy mastering of the album itself is partially to blame, but his voice sounds like it did on the mixtape.

I cannot listen to him like that, I remember commenting on here about how horrible is voice was sounding prior to his death. The vocals on most of these songs sound better, they must have done a lot of work with them.

will blindly cop but i hope he sounds healthy. oh shit. just realized i'm wearing my riP! t shirt as i type. That has WAY more to do with it being laundry day then any sort of standom. But being a Sean Price stan is way cooler than, oh i don't know, being an Aesop Rock or Nas stan.
Alchemist produced pure and raw magma. Hopefully this will make Imperius Rex. No telling how many times I will play this song back to back to back to back.

and I'm assuming the CDs will be available, but unfortunately it appears the vinyl copies of the album are going to be delayed until October due to manufacturing issues according to the e-mail Duck Down sent yesterday. About halfway through the album and there's a ton of features on here. Cool to see he was able to flex the bit of notoriety he achieved to pull more guests on this album.

his wife had on the sequencing for this album; it flows perfectly even when some of the songs are weaker then others. The production is top notch and the features fit perfectly. Probably his best solo album release.
Can't wait until I get the vinyl copies of this in my mitts. Anyone went to the record release party for this last night?

I'm only a few listens into the album but it struck me instantly as possibly his best. I wasn't a uge fan of Mic Tyson. Also, in the somewhat weak context of 2017, I think this is among the top albums of the year.
Something is just 'clicking' with this album. P's flow is always on point and the beats are consistently hard across his catalog, but sometimes his music is too consistent. Mic Tyson felt like the same 5 songs on repeat.
My only critique right now is I really want to hear Westside Gunn on Negus.

Alchemists kicks things off right and there's definitely dopeness on the album (don't remember specific track names yet), but not sure it has anything I like as much as (for example) Onion Head, Bar-Barian, Violence, King Kong.
Admittedly, I'm probably battling against my own unfair expectations where a beloved MC passes away, a posthumous album is announced, and I play executive producer with a dream team wishlist of boombap heavy hitters handling production and MC superfriends joining the party (the latter actually did pretty much occur with DOOM, Prodigy, Wu-Tang and BCC pals, etc. showing up).
My understanding is this was the album he was working on prior to passing so a cut/paste job with folks he wasn't working with probably wouldn't be in line with his wishes, but a few more Alchemist joints or something from someone like Apollo Brown would have been dope.
Album is still cool and I'm glad it's here.

That said I'm loving this album. Very little rough voice P on here. His wife did an amazing job, I've very proud of her. I had a huge smile on my face during the first listen. Clans and Clicks is just a big gift to me. I've ALWAYS wanted that song.

Are those verses new? Or have they been hanging around for a minute? I feel like Deck says something about 2006...maybe I heard that wrong.
