"hey entertainers: PERFORM YOUR BIGGEST HIT in concert."

i just recalled that when i last saw Yonce in concert for last year's Formation Tour she did NOT perform 'Single Ladies'.

fuck. that. shit.

the show as good for that it was but as i left Soldier Field that's the first thing i thought - 'She didn't do 'Single Ladies''. i remember thinking the show couldn't be OVER b/c she can't not do that song. but NOPE.

naw.

that ain't cool.

i don't give a shit what an entertainer personally feels about the song that made them who they are. that song will probably send one of Yonce's grandkids to community college. it's the song that made her YONCE. it's what forced the world to recognize her Pop dominance. if bitches 'bow down' to her that's the tune that made those last knees bend. she better do that damn song in concert the next time i see her.

i have no patience for acts who won't perform their money maker.

fuck you.

I saw KRS-1 a year or 2 ago. He left without doing "My Philosophy."

We saw Snoop last year & he didn't do "Beautiful." OK, this one may be debatable because there are other songs that may be higher on Snoop's list of biggest hits. But I'd bet that it's top 10.

I took my girl to see Dave Matthew Band a few years back. Their encore closed with Talking Heads' "Burnin' Down the House," instead of one of their bigger hits. She still hasn't forgiven them for that.

i want them to perform their money maker in whatever spirit is true to the song.

if they have bad feelings about the song they should vent them backstage. it's part of the gig - it's part of being a performer.

so I can't link it up, but artists getting sick of performing their material wasn't something I thought of until the infamous time when Andre 3K sarcastically mentioned having to perform Hey Ya one more time before a live performance on an MTV awards show if memory serves me right.

It's a glamorous job to be a top level performing artist, but it is a job at the end of the day and I can understand an artist being sick and tired of performing an old song.

They heard it a thousand times before WE ever did, so by the time it's a hit record, I'm SURE they get sick of it.

Twenty-two, fam.

A lot of cats are leaving disappointed if they're gonna be mad if they don't hear one particular song.

If an artist TRULY owed their career to one song, understandable. But that is not the case here. And she would still be the biggest singer in the world without SL.

MJ knew he had to perform 'Billie Jean' at all of his shows.

Prince knew he had to give the ppl 'Purple Rain'.

Stevie knows ppl wanna hear 'Superstition' - even during the SITKOL anniversary shows he closes w/'Superstition'.

Yonce knows it's 'Single Ladies' for her. she needs to act like it.

btw...of Yonce's #1s (22? by who power?? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyonc%C3%A9_discography#Singles; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destiny\'s_Child_discography#Singles)...'Single Ladies' is the biggest hit. sold more copies than the others. more weeks at #1. even won a Grammy for Song of the Year. her only win in that category.

bow down. it's 'Single Ladies'.

fuck you.

The Beastie Boys never did "Fight For Your Right to Party" after the "License To Ill" tour. I saw them a couple of times, and their show never suffered because of it. They performed other stuff from the first album, but never that. If anything, performing "Fight For Your Right" would seemed out of place in the context of the show.

Beck also apparently hasn't done "Loser" in decades. Show didn't suffer because of it.

I've seen Bob Dylan do some shows where he performs "Like a Rolling Stone." I've seen some shows where he leaves it off the set-list. The show doesn't rise and fall on it.

chalked it up to knowing your audience, recognizing the thanks you give for even having a career that long, and being extra creative and having fun with their played out hits..

that was the biggest selling song out the whole native tongues camp (in terms of blllboard)

And he performed it with glee. At least at his main shows. His after shows and small venue shows he used to stretch out and play covers and album cuts. But he knew that at his main shows he had to give the ppl what they wanted. To really appreciate him on stage you had to see him in both contexts.

I heard he really really really hate that and didn't like it the year it came out, don't know why but it's one of his biggest hits; I'm not sure if he still does live shows but I remember someone being really pissed that he didn't do that song.

But I can understand when an artist doesn't like one of their big hits but it's another thing to not perform it knowing it's one of the songs that people know that artist from.

From what I heard Thom Yoke hates that song, so does the guitarist as well.
