"Fat Joe Unsung he is a interesting story"

i've always been mixed on Joey Crack and yet he is unsung in that he has kept a hit and been written off and the cat has put some folks on.

he keeps that duet hustle going as well.

have a career going in 2017, dropping hit records, I would have told you that you were plum crazy.

He has his moments tho, I respect the way he finds ways to adapt to each era while remaining himself.

Haven't seen the Unsung ep but would check it out, I'll also probably at least listen to the collab album with Remy when it comes out, she's been going hard with the bars over the past year.

even the skits, I loved it when it came out
of course it was 95 so we were all in a Wu Tang chokehold
but he steeped up big time from Represent and actually had bars here and there.
I remember reading an interview back then and he said that after he heard Illmatic
he was like "oh shit, gotta step it up"
and Big Pun first ever on Firewater: coño!

an extremely authentic ass dude, cool as shit, who's managed
to drop some massive records across a number of different eras
and paradigm shifts, maximized his talent despite not being
blessed with extraordinary gifts, and someone who most definitely
has a true love for the art and culture and history of this here hip hop shit.

i know the backpack brigade abandoned him years ago but he's still good in my book.

Vinnie would be making sense and going somewhere with a statement, while Treach could barely contain his palpable hatred for him, while continually interrupting him, as disrespectfully as possible.

And I love Treach, while Vinnie's contributions to the group have always on record felt fairly negligible.

But I left that interview realizing that Vinnie, if just by being sober and relatively thought-out, must have had an impact on the group's success behind the scenes.

But Treach indeed was. Mostly because he was so fucking drunk.

And I thought Kay Gee was the one who was sober? He kept on passing up drinks, and sounded the most overall coherent. I wanted to hear more from him.

I also thought it was Treach and Kay Gee who had the beef, but Treach, even in his absolutely blotted state, kept calling him a genius. So who knows?

Vinnie beef was just a couple years ago, around the time they played the roots picnic. I remember Vinnie said something like "this is my worldwide #1 single" when hip hop hooray was starting. I remember thinking "YOUR number one single?" I agree with Bomb though, it makes sense that he was contributing behind the scenes. Apparently Treach and Kay Gee fought and K held his own, people thought Treach was gonna whoop on him. I actually just started listening to that drink champs this morning, only heard the beginning part.

Back when their beef was heavy Treach said they were done. I thought at this point they only rock for the business aspect of the group (which makes sense to me).

the way Treach was, nor stepping on other people's parts, so there wasn't much time for him, even over the course of a two-plus hour podcast.

And like Makaveli was saying, he and Kay Dee did have beef, Treach went at him on Redman's Malpractice album, was shitting on him publicly in the early 2000s, they ended up actually meeting up to have a fair one, back home on a basketball court to settle it, and apparently have been back to being cool ever since.

The Vinnie thing has been going on more during this decade, went public back around 2013, Treach as usual was shitting on him in interviews, Vin mentioned that Treach sucker-punched him in a meeting but that he was still willing to work with him while Treach hinted they might be over as a group.

Someone in here even said they had gone on tour for like a full year before that without speaking, and that Treach was actually talking shit to him onstage at times a la Serch and Pete Nice.

I saw them perform by surprise at The Roots & Friends BET Experience show at Club Nokia in LA Live as a surprise guest with The Roots in fall of 2013 with concretecharlie, didn't notice any interaction between them at all onstage but then again, I was mostly just spazzing, because Naughty came onstage in what was to be if anything the end or final encore of the show, then started doing "Uptown Anthem", while I had no idea they were even there, while I had already seen The Roots set' then The Roots backing up sets by MC Lyte, Nelly (that was weird) and Too Short before closing.

But I digress...bottom line is they must be in a better place now but Treach was not doing a good job of hiding his disgust while that drunk, he must have called Vin a "politician", cut him off in mid-convo and mumbled disrespectful shit under his breath while addressing most things he was saying with an edge he clearly didn't have for Kay Dee, despite his level of intoxication.

I think things came to a head on tour, when it was the three members of the group and the dancers cramped on one bus together, and their personalities started grating on each other. Touring can fuck up even the strongest friendships, and considering that it wasn't like the members of the group had even come up together (they were essentially put together by Def Jam after all three members came separately to the label), it just ended poorly.

I hadn't heard that they were talking shit about each other on stage though.

I'd have to watch it again, but I'm pretty sure Nore offers Kay a shot, and he said he was cool, and the other two made jokes about him being the designated driver.

But yeah, thanks to you and Makaveli for the education on the history of the beef, I wasn't aware Treach and Vin had issues.
