glamorious life is interesting because you hear Jill Jones in the back, however Shelia E did wonders with the percussion it added life to it.

these songs were cool, however nothing has really stood out IMO.

i do wonder what a studio version of "People without" might sound like, however as is the case with said situations and unless you got a Ottis Redding" Sitting on the dock of the bay in the vault chances are you have heard as good as it will get IMO.

so to speak. Otis Redding's entire career only lasted a little over 3 years..so sitting on the dock of the bay was a current song he was working on....as a current artist.

If Prince had passed away 3 years into his career you would have had current music in the vaults from 1999, purple rain, controversy etc.

either way... Long ago music from Prince's vault that leaked has sonned the careers of most artists...

The Live stuff that has yet to leak from Prince's vault will do the same thing because he has no recent peers that can see him as a live artist at all

and Prince had some important stuff, but whose career is he Sonning?

His best stuff came out back in the day and his best vault stuff was easily from 82-85. live stuff was tight in the early to late 80's however while he was talented and made his impact, he ain't the only cat that had a important career.

don't come at me on that Purple High Horse. please don't. he was badd in the 80's and average to below in the other decades and eras.

live on stage was what carried him over from 88 onward.

obviously he isn't the only artist to have an important career. But he shouldn't be compared to these clowns who lip sync in concert and who "rap-sing" over dats in their concerts and pass them off as "live" shows..

nope...

those people aren't in his category.

just because someone hits a home run while everyone is playing tee-ball....doesn't mean they are comparable to people who hit home runs playing baseball..

its 2 different games...

so the people who couldn't carry Prince's jock Live on stage should not be compared to him..

don't water the game down to include lesser artists..

keep the bar high and when people can't reach the bar....they just can't reach the bar...

oh...and sitting on the dock of the bay wasn't released AFTER Otis death because it wasn't going to be released had he lived. The song was written and recorded with the intention of being released. Prince's vault is full of things that didn't make the cut of whatever albums he was making at the time...or because he changed directions and just simply didn't release it.

2 different things

ain't nothing changed where i'm concearned.

He was never Better than Michael Jackson, RIck James, Lionel Richie,Sly Stone, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, R.Kelly,Aretha Franklin,Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye,Smokey Robinson,Sam Cooke,Maurice White,Ray Charles, and some others. IMO.

typical Purple Kool Aid drinkers think evetybody gotta sip his juice and it ain't the case,

FYI back in the day I heard much of his vault and it ain't that memorable. Prince ain't got nothing in his vault seeing Stevie Wonder's vault.
you are entitled to Jock his stuff all you want, however i'll stck to his 80's period and him as a live performer. however don't act like he wasn't played out for over 2 decades.

don't act like his songwriting, albums and creativity didn't fall off.

He was talented and had impact, but he did fall off and badly.

All good stuff....it's cool to hear "new' material from different eras that fit seamlessly into the overall evolution of his sound.

Another gem floating out there right now is "I Wonder".

It's from 1990-91 and has quickly become one of my favorite bootleg singles.

but it'd be fine if Tidal had the right to release these and others like them. as long as the estate is paid fairly.

it's more than you ever imagine. and it wasn't by accident when Prince went to do business with him.

i won't say publicly what I heard Prince said about Jay Z that is strickly in box. but he loved Jigga.

yeah it would be crappy if Jay Z got Prince's songs. for some in a twisted universe would be like Michael Jackson getting the Beatles catelog. However MJ was a true Musical Peer of the Beatles and them.

Jay Z ain't nowhere near Prince's musical level, however business and wealth is a whole different animal

however as talented as Larry is,etc.. he ain't got that kind of Loot or made the in roads that Jay Z did.

you know how some of us as Black Folks look up to Michelle and Barack Obama as a sign of something special

well Prince was like that about Beyonce and Jay Z.

Prince never changed about wanting control over his work, etc.. however he admired how Jigga Build his thing. there is a reason why some of Prince's family members are talking to him, Money talks

Larry did have access to Prince switching up some of his songs, etc. but Larry ain't got the pockets that Jay Z got. and somebody is gonna make that offer.
