The Roots did not appear on camera during *any point* when Trump was on the stage/screen. Not during the walk out, playing in and out of commercial or playing the segment out. They were in the in-from-commercial segment once Donald left.
And I bet the song choice was less subtle than what NBC or Trump expected.
