Like you said Torch, this one was sparse and loaded....

I just took a few pieces, tuned some of the guitars, left some alone...

layered and filtered....

Mixed and here you go...

Drums as usual...bass brought out from the sample I took....

Needs an MC...

Lemme know what y'all think...

I was itching, so as soon as I saw the post, I was on it....HAHA!

the sample was kinda sparse so this was more of a mix exercise for me, and my goal was to make that little sample I used sound full, so goal accomplished.

thanks for the ears, brotha.

how did i miss this 1??

sounds like the "sensations fix" drums (snare?)

shit is raw... like the drums and the filter (?) you used on the samples

guitar chops is butter

100% hip hop

edit: what you work on equipment wise?

My commonly used setup is pretty basic...

Just my MPC
Logic
Combo of Waves and UAD plugs

I still wanna get that Dave Smith drum synth to really do 'em dirty with the drums.....one day.

I have some moog stuff too, but hardly use 'em....(tho I should)

At the present my minitaur and slim phatty are collecting dust...smh

i honestly didnt jell with the dsi tempest drum machine....

the one i think is great for hip hop is the elektron analog rytm...

i think its way better for drums than the tempest

i couldnt ever coax anything out the dsi...

the analog rytm has much less parameters but they are preconfigured to make drum sounds

the dsi is just more of a general synth with a roger linn sequencer

This one got that Dilla circa BR&L feel. Drums and samples. That murky Rhodes piano type sound. As always, drum sounds on point. And chop game obviously no slouch either. I see you. Another nice one.

Come to grips with the fact that most OKP's are of the Nut Hugger lineage, so, if you' re not part of the little cliques that exist 'round here, your posts will probably tank like Souljaboy's album sales.

This is blaze, man!!!

Bassline so buttery and the chop game top shelf, as per usual.

The record effect at the end and the stutter stops throughout were nice touches.

this shit knock, man....so far you in the lead lol.

Excellent work, dude!!!!

Cause you LITERALLY nailed his sound around The Ownerz album. The repetitive, morse code sounding sample layered underneath the pitched guitars mixed with the sparse, well-timed drums. And the hats mixed real low. Primo went mostly without hats on the Ownerz, but, close enough. Could definitely hear Guru or especially M.O.P. over this one.

Banger.

I've been chasing that kind of kick sound for years and have yet to find it or been able to layer the right pieces to nail it. But, you sir, have it right.

https://soundcloud.com/j-b-78/okp-the-get-down-heatwave

man... its so hot in NY...

i literally just sat in front of my A/C & a fan yesterday and binge watched the show

woke up this morning and saw the challenge...

took a used but kinda not known (what it is) breakbeat and just looped it... not out of laziness but was kinda inspired by the show...Djs just extending the break

took one bass note and pitched it up and down a few notches... and a couple guitar licks are arranged em

let the moog warm up and threw some salt & pepper on it...

prolly get really spruce it up with a little more work

peace

Got your signature sound...

The drums are dope.

The bass note you took and replayed went perfect with the drums.

The overall mix is hella good....and all the added garnish gives this a full production sheen.

This is good work, man....

I dig that sound.

The only critique is that change-up at 1:19 is a bit too abrupt, but the beat itself sequence by sequence is really good.

I like it, man!

This somethin I can vibe with on a sunday mornin, yup yup!!! That slow rise, able to take you to another level if you let yaself float away lol... Vibe is def. there!!!

I like how the toms play along w the kick underneath, does wonders for the rhythm, and compliments the spacy vibes real good!

Levels are nice, missin some freqs on the hi-end but hey, that could be on purpose soo...

Change up just woke me up outa the dream and forced me back on here, guess thats great for stayin grounded lol, PROPS on the trip!!!
