>No sh!t. Do you realize how badly you talk down to people?
I give as good as a I get, champ Case in point? Anonymous initiated our little exchange. And it’s not the first time he’s done that bullshit so I decided to call him out on it. So, you know, yeah.
> I read the >other thread and saw all the praise...got hyped...copped >without previewing...and have attempted for a week to hear >what ya'll are hearing. > >So I posted on it. Just as you can post your opinion, I can >post mine.
……… I never said you couldn’t or shouldn’t post your opinion.
>And this album just isn't that good...definitely not up there >with Aquemini or whatever bullsh!t you said. (I think it was >you). Yes, IN MY OPINION.
Please, PLEASE, go back and point out ONE album where I said this was “on par with” or “as good as” ANY OTHER ALBUM.
Please. I’ll wait.
See, that’s the best part of all this: you people, including your lil buddy Anonymous up there, keep harping on something I never said. For all this talk about “give it some time” and “let it marinate”, you people are so pressed to bug out over something that literally doesn’t exist. All you saw was *insert name of revered album here* and got all OMGZ LULZ WHAT OMGZ over it.
I did project that it might turn out to be a landmark album….but that means the future, not now. But as I said you’re too pressed to actually read what’s actually said and read it in context, so here we are.
>But, even then... > >the point there is to let the sh!t marinate.
Well……. no. That’s not even a point. It’s just an arbitrary critique that’s never ever, ever ever had an ounce of validity. None whatsoever.
Question: How long should *other people* “let shit marinate” before *you* decide it’s okay for *them* to say how much they like it?
What amount of time do you suggest? How many months or years must pass before fanboys don’t lose their shit when something gets high praise?
>The lesson for me is to preview this sh!t and not get caught >up in the Lesson overhyping something in a slow year.
Lol. If you’re just now learning that you shouldn’t base your opinions on the opinions of others, you’ve got some problems. How is this a new revelation to you? What are you, twelve?
>>When one person loves it and another thinks it’s terrible, >>what conversation is there to be had? What objective >standard >>can you apply to fuel an actual discussion, particularly >when >>the tact is this “LULZ we must be listening to two >different >>albums”. We can apply objective metrics to music as >>individuals but the water gets muddy when you try to apply >>that objectivity across the board with people who were miles >>apart to begin with. I love the sequencing; you hate it. > >Wait, so we can only talk about music if we agree??? We can >only talk about music if we love it?
Uh… no. I never said that. I never implied that. This is precisely what I was talking about earlier. Talk about overreactions. What’s sad is that the text is literally right there for you to read and yet here you are with some ridiculously over the top reaction based on something that was never said because you’re apparently incapable of understanding the context in which words are written.
Your post was all about “I must be missing something, this is awful but people love it, lolz, what am I not getting”. You also said “no to fan the flame BUT….”
My response was not “we disagree so we can’t have a discussion”. To the contrary, my response was far more nuanced than you were apparently able to grasp:
What conversation is there to be had when there is so much distance between the two perspectives, particularly when one side is 100% dismissive (ahem, that’s exactly what “LULZ” is).
>And yeah "LULZ" fans the flames...but so does your >condescending a$$. You talking down to people is not any >better than LULZ or anything Anonymous said.
Interesting that you went with vague generalization in response to my very specific criticism. Interesting…. but unsurprising. My disposition toward Anonymous was in direct response to him, yet as with everything else you’ve said in here you’re completely blind to the context of my approach to him. I have plenty of perfectly civil interactions with plenty of people on a regular basis and there’s a clear common denominator among those I do not have civil interactions with.
Even now, I was perfectly respectful toward you and yet your response was significantly more aggressive toward me. Your tone didn’t jive with my response at all, champ. Of course, now I’m breaking out the condescension in droves, but again: context, champ. Give it a try sometime
>And I'm not asking for metrics LULZ <<<<<.
…and, yet again, I never said you did, lulz.
>I'm legit wondering if I misses a mind-blowing verse or song >concept. No snark, I am wondering if I missed something >because I can't believe the praise this thing is getting. > >The "did I get the wrong version" is some joke sh!t. Relax >man. You are really tightly wound it seems...or just really >love you so some Schoolboy Q. Something touches a nerve.
Where is my “tightly wound” and “unrelaxed” response to that? Again: your tone doesn’t jive at all with my response.
>Oh snap, people have different tastes?? What else can you >teach me?
A lot, apparently.
>Look I was thrown (and still am) at how much love and >hyperbole there is(Anonymous has a point weather you like the >album or not) for this album.
It’s only a “point” if you accept the premise that his perspective is the measuring stick for everyone else.
But that’s ridiculous and no, he doesn’t have a point. People like it more than you, and the “tightly wound” and “unrelaxed” people are the ones who are so incensed at the notion that, LULZ, OMGZ, people liked it more than them.
> I'm not getting into all that...I'm just saying he has a >point that an album comes out and people tend to go overboard >with comparisons and classic status.
So…..You’ll get all into my demeanor toward him but you won’t get into *why* I took that tact?
Very telling.
>So yeah...you love this, I don't and I am legit wondering if I >missed something. But since we don't agree, I guess we can't >talk about it so...
Oh we absolutely can and, again, I never said that, but I can see you’re clinging to your imagination on this one.
>How about you chill out a little in genral, stop talking down >to people
I’ll continue to dish it out to those who dish it out. you can continue to this bullshit one sided view of it.
>pump the breaks on the hyperbole.
LULZ.
Again, if you understood that people have different tastes and opinions, you wouldn’t consider a better perception of a subjective piece of art to be “hyperbole”, unless of course you’re yet another self absorbed douchebag who thinks his perceptions are the barometer for everyone else.
That seems to be the case with you.
>I'll chill with the LULZ and learn my lesson and preview an >album first. > >Deal?
I don’t give two fucks what you do. I’ll just respond to your fuckery if I feel like it and won’t if I don’t.
> like a beeeaaatch!!!
Yes, that’s how you came across here.
