He continued: “My father once said to me that a pornographic image actually tattoos your mind. It never leaves you. It binds to your senses and your psyche. Beauty is pornographic to me, it’s a trigger in that same way—a chemical reaction that moves blood in the body. That is powerful. The other joy that’s the most pure can only come through God.”
He's a very talented musician, but hearing his approach to his music makes me cringe sometimes. I guess it's a fine line between genius and madness.

The only somewhat weird thing about it was that he said "Beauty is pornographic to me" instead of "Beauty is like pornography to me"... but he isn't the best at articulating himself. If it wasn't lack of articulation, it was him being controversial on purpose. Either one is very possible and unworthy of me trippin on.

is a good one.
That being said, his comment came off as pretentious and detached from the real meaning of both words. Especially the part about porn being a feeling almost as powerful as connecting with God. Sex is a powerful energy, but his choice of words just puzzles me, like most aspects of his public life.

Sadly, he's veering towards "famous for being famous" status and not "famous for being the most provocative and consistent pop star post-2000"
And it sucks. It just so sucks if you were/are a fan of his like myself.
Yeezus is a beautifully loud and abrasive sound of a plane crashing. A brutal masterpiece. And it really sounds like a guy who knows his light is burning out and he's desperately trying to get every last watt out of the bulb.
Pablo is a mess. The rollout was a mess, the album is a mess, and everything he's done publicly since has been a mess.
This video isn't "art", it's click-bait, it's purposefully crude. He's lost touch.

He simply doesn't communicate well with people. Which is fine, since most visionary people don't seem to be able to relate well with others.
Maybe he really is an asshole, but his antics and comments just seem like he's got some type of psychological imbalance, like he can't help but be obnoxious.
Either way, whatever his reasons might be, I don't pay attention to his music like I did when College Dropout and Late Registration hit. But even then, he never really had much substance to his lyrics. At least to me.

>Either way, whatever his reasons might be, I don't pay >attention to his music like I did when College Dropout and >Late Registration hit. But even then, he never really had much >substance to his lyrics. At least to me. Those first two albums had a lot of substance to them. All Falls Down, Jesus Walks, Through the Wire, Diamonds, Touch the Sky, Drive Slow, Crack Music, Heard em Say, etc etc.

I mean I like his first three albums alot. Like in the example you described, he was able to offer a more open and inclusive example of manhood, which is refreshing for me to hear.
But the song that always sticks out to me as awkward was Jesus Walks. I liked that he included a song about faith and religion on his album. It's rare that a mainstream MC will touch on those topics.
The opening where he mentions that people at war with outside forces (terrorism and racism) but most of all conflict comes from within. But the song doesn't go in depth about the conditions of racism or terrorism or even the source of internal conflict.
And then Diamonds of Sierra Leone is structured the same way. Great concept, but the content doesn't do justice to his idea.
His lyrics were more clever and observant than they were deeply profound, which has less to do with his actual content than his brash nature. Just my own hang up.

In fact, Kanye's greatest strength early on was his ability to take a complex topic or idea and make it super-accessible. Kanye could said in one basic line what it would take Talib Kweli an entire song to clumsily say.
from Roses: "If Magic Johnson got the cure for Aids, and all the broke motherfuckers passed away/ you tellin me if my grandmas in the NBA, right now she'd be ok?"
from Family Business: "I feel like one day you'll understand me dogg/ you can still love your man and be manly dogg"
I mean he's REALLY dumbing down the subjects of health care costs and masculinity in these examples, but I also think that's ironically what makes these lines really effective.

A rapper talking about college and rapping about working at the game and being honest about being insecure.
He didn't have to be articulate in that role, just honest.
Now he is being honest about shit no one cares about. No one cares about the price of fame and his commentary on fame.

"This is why I love Kanye West! So unorthodox! Simple minded people will NEVER understand him. He will confuse them to the point they will hate him. But me, I get it."
Lol, at anyone who thinks he's too complex or too much of genius for others to get. He's hated on bc of his constant attention-whoring ways. It's nauseating. Personally, I don't follow celebrity gossip that much so I really don't care one way or the other. I'd just like him to get back to making good music. Unfortunately, I think his head is too far up his own (and Kim's) ass for that to happen. He's too obsessed with Pop media and his own image.

I'm just laughing at twitter going in on Lena Dunham, anyways
Anna Wintour is the only oddball to me, with Taylor Swift who is constantly criticized for serial dating I can see the attempt to show her in a more exposed light because when you inadvertently know somebodies relationship history this is how the people who "slut-shame" see her, in bed with a lot of people. Plus showing her in bed with Ye fits the line in the song.
Rose, Kim, Caitlyn, and Ray-J make sense because they're all tied to Kanye. Chris & Rihanna because they were in a relationship, Cosby's inclusion is creepy but he still fits depending on how you want to view people sleeping in a bed.
Bush & Trump are polarizing and "in bed" has long been used to describe politicians doing some shady activity with anybody, plus it's just a good way to demean two White dudes a lot of people don't like, depending on how you want to view people sleeping in a bed.
Only thing about Wintour is I think she told Oprah to lose weight before posing for a magazine cover, but that was a while back so I can't think why she was put in.
He could have had look a likes done up with cgi acting out things a lot more controversial than just having people laying in a bed.
Not cool to take the liberties he did but when a nigga marries a woman famous for being famous he just speaking on what his life is his, this mess is cheap shots and people fall for it and get riled up.
If he wanna shock me he gotta make a poignant song about what's going on in Chicago, "Real Friends" & "30 hours" best joints since MBDTF.
