Had been hearing from a while he was really sick. Diabetes is a helluva thing.

It's sad that some of the things he's most remembered for is being part of of "soft" PM Dawn and getting tossed off the stage by KRS's crew, but dude had BEATS. He was royalty as a crate digger in the '90s and the producti on these PM Dawn was always official.

And hey, compared to a lot of the mainstream hip hop out these days, PM Dawn doesn't really sound that soft anymore.

The story lord finesse shared about how dude used to have them conventions on lock had me laughing. Stacks of records and y'all can't touch shit until Prince Be looks through them.

He really was a pioneering producer.

The crate digging stories about him are legendary.

Sad to hear. I didn't like what KRS did to them, although I was a big KRS fan at the time. But I finally heard the record around '97 and it was a lot better than what the hip-hop press made it out to be. Like mrhood got at in his post, their music was a bit ahead of their time and PM Dawn was an act with an original sound.

This song is more than music.
I remember Hendrix once saying that he plays
for his music to go inside the soul of a person.
This is that... not just because of the words,
but there's just something in the musicality of
it that transcends anything tangible or explainable.
