"it's pretty wild waka/lex birthed modern-rap music and..."

like 1-2 years later were on the outside looking in while everybody aped their sound/style and got rich and famous.

waka hasn't done anything that's mattered since 2011, outside of that joint with travis scott -- lex luger probably the same.

by rights they should be treated as the godfathers/og's of this trap shit and respected as such, but they can't even get clicks on their music for free.

are either of them even 30?

fuck, man...

<- way before hashtags.

It's the EDM kids. He's made a solid lane touring/eating off of them

if I'm not mistaken. People still love Waka. He just sold out three nights in a row where I am (NC) a few months ago and every night was lit af.

But you're right about other people getting paid off what he and Lex did in 2010.

The way I see it, Waka, Future, and Young Thug are pretty much all we need from the trap. Everyone else is interchangeable. Even the three I mentioned had their respective styles entirely fathered by someone else.

He's kinda like Danny Brown in that way (although Danny intentionally balances it out with tailoring stuff towards traditional hip-hop)

I would have thought he was near 30 at that time.

And Waka is 29.

It's been weird being an outsider to all of that stuff. I find out about artists and songs only after they've been popular for 6 months, already.

They helped birth EDM Trap as well and Waka is killing that lane currently..

Lex was too easy to replicate.. unlike Timbo, Pharrell, Ye there was nothing genius to unlock once you had the Lex Luger Drum kit and Fruity Loops
