De La Soul's second album, De La Soul Is Dead, was released 25 years ago on May 13, 1991. To celebrate the album's 25th anniversary, De La Soul have launched two physical memorials in New York City. The first memorial is located at 298 Elizabeth St., where former manager Russell Simmons kept his Rush Management office. The second memorial is located at the intersection of 37th St. and 8th, where the group recorded the album at the now-defunct Calliope Recording Studios. They've also launched a memorial website, where visitors can digitally sign their names and stream De La Soul Is Dead in full. Find that here. "This album brings back so many good memories for us, we hope these songs provided a good soundtrack for your life as well," the group wrote on the website. "Show your appreciation and support the life of the culture and its classic albums." Additionally, they've shared "Sho Nuff," an unreleased song from the album's recording sessions that was produced by the group's Posdnous. Listen to that below.

yes indeed; '91 might be the one of the best years for the Native Tongues with the sophomore masterpieces from De La & Tribe plus the debut of Black Sheep.

It was a trip with my junior high Humanities teacher to a visual effects/advertising company called R/GA here in Manhattan. This is the artist who also created the cartoon likeness for the Charles Barkley commercial for his first pair of kicks that came out in the early 90's.
