It's basically like saying he's an amateur. And, count me in the minority, but like mistermaxx pretty much said, having chops and few hot beats ain't enough. And, as much as we may want to deny it, that damn FL piano roll and the influx of sample libraries that sound more true to form than the cheesy patches you had to work with from Korg and Roland back in the day, has allowed this generation of producers to come up with some stuff that sometimes competes with having a studio musician in the room.

I do wish dude luck, though.

This sounds nothing like Dam Funk.

It sounds everything like what's been coming out of Montreal/Vancouver for the past couple years.

I don't follow this scene religiously or anything, but I'm a huge fan of the sound. Bouncy bass, claps, weird phrasing, 80's samples, modern remixes, all that. I have a guy who keeps me semi-updated on shit like this and a LOT of the best stuff (IMO) comes from Canada. Europe comes pretty tough too, but the kids from up north sound funkier.
