There's really nothing wrong with that album. Like I said, he clearly swung for the fences and hit it out of the park while maintaining his style. I appreciate that because it's such a fine line when you reach that type of mainstream success.
The production is top notch. The features are dope. He has a few dope concepts on there. I guess the one flaw would be Fuckin You Right but even that is dope for what it is.
40 Dayz probably has the highest highs to me. 3 Card Molly, What U See, Focus, Deeper, LA Times, and Recycled Assassins (that beat is amazing) are some my favorite X songs period. But I always hated the middle section from Nobody Sound Like Me, Pussy Pop, Chronic Keeping Interlude, and Shroomz. I played everything except for Pussy Pop when the album dropped but listening now...that quarter of the album kills the overall album.
The debut was always a little disjointed to me. I originally loved X for his harder/darker joints so At The Speed, Eyes May Shine, Paparazzi, Foundation, Carry The Weight, and Enemies and Friends are all great. But the Hurricane G joint, the King Tee joint (which I appreciate now) Hit and Run, and Plastic Surgery always stood out as at least a step down from what I wanted from X. The Liks joint was dope but was somewhat in the middle for me. I always loved the album and X was one of my favorites since but something always seemed a little off on this album overall.
