. . .is inherently wrong.

Also, I'm a self-proclaimed Slowdive fanboy, so it's nice to see the Soulvlaki love, but even I would say rating them over the Valentines is taking it too far.

And, holy hell Ride is overrated.

man that list doesn’t line up with my top ten at all – I’m definitely more of a “rough edges” type of shoegazer instead of the “polished to a diamond” type of guy. I was tempted to put helmet’s first album and the first unsane album on my list, but I’ll keep more traditional. Here’s my top 10:

(10) Cheatahs – s/t
(09) Lush – Gala
(08) Pia Fraus – Nature Heart Software
(07) Swirlies – What to do about them*
(06) Swervedriver – Raise
(05) Ride – Smile*
(04) My Bloody Valentine – Ecstacy and Wine*
(03) Swirlies – They spent their wild youthful days…
(02) Ride – Nowhere (I agree with you that its overplayed but can you really deny Vapor Trail / Polar Bear?)
(01) My Bloody Valentine – Isn’t anything (You never should may be the greatest song of all time, and what about Feed me with your kiss? UNDENIABLE)

* I realize that these are technically singles collections but I experienced them as albums first

I also want to put a shout for some amazing shoegaze 45s and EPs, particularly rocketship “hey hey girl” and “she’s gonna make me cry” along with MBV “you made me realize” ep

"when's the last time you heard a funky diabetic?"
