"The Definitive List of Must Have Late 80s/Early 90s R&B"

So I was going through my music collection and I realized that I have music from so many different eras.....EXCEPT for the one I grew up in.

So I went and copped Al B Sure's 1st 3 Albums...
and Troop's 1st two...
I already had Jodeci's 1st 2 but I never dug the 3rd....

And I just wanted to know from all of you music nerd types....what music from that period is a must have?

D

PS: If any of you bastards say Tony Rich or any of the 2nd tier Babyface albums...you don't know me at AWL! I hate everything that dude made other than "Whip Appeal" and "Soon As I Get Home From Work"

I'd add Poison to that list too. Actually, all of the NE offshoots at that time were fire. Don't Be Cruel, the JG self titled, Ralph's first album, Cooleyhighharmony.

Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation 1814
Sade - Love Deluxe
Michael Jackson - Dangerous (I expect some flak for this one)
Keith Sweat - Make it Last Forever

You're such pests...now, what is it you want? In your depths of your ignorance, what is it you want? Well, whatever it is you want, I can't deliver because I just don't see it. - Orson Welles

QD3's 90's jams on Spotify http://open.spotify.com/user/qd3/playlist/2E4ny7BS8lWtUT79yy8eoJ

In general I would recommend going for outstanding producers, vocalists, record labels and instrumentalists, follow their discographies and take a journey to discover more and more gems. Like for the 80's Leon Sylvers III, Quincy Jones, Kashif, Flyte Tyme, Solar Records, etc. Let the journey come natural to absorb these eras like when your chilling at home, going to sleep while listening to the old school station or hanging out somewhere either overhearing classics or diggin in the crates.
