Yeah, they had that underground buzz for a minute in that time and place, shame they never took off...but I believe Ka was a member, and he is doing his thing...might be totally off, but heard that somewhere...
>What did he go by back then, A-Butta, L Swift or Mr. Voodoo?
Ka went by Ka back then, he was on their infamous 1994 EP that was produced entirely by Charlemagne and was the original 3rd member of NE with L-Swift and Mr. Voodoo, but he himself said that he was the weak link and so he left the crew since he felt he was holding them back, a-butta came in and took his spot and then they dropped their infamous singles and got that tommy boy deal, which didn't really suit their style and the lp became the shelved "tommy boy album" that is floating on the net and isn't nearly as dope as it shoulda been due to tommy boy pushing them to be more commercial back then.

....obviously LOX got lucky with puff taking them in ...but NE was a SUPER group of talented MCs and Charlemagne was nice as fuck with the beats ...too bad Rawkus didnt get them before Tommy Boy did, cause they really fucked up their trajectory
I dug all their singles and eps. The unreleased album I didn't hear until MUCH later. I didn't think it was that great wither but there were still some cool songs if I remember correctly; I definitely dug the "2 tons" single at least...
BTW, the female Essence on this cut used to post here on OKP fairly regularly under the username Asoyini... Haven't seen her here in a while though; I always dug her verse on this cut at least...
