I listened to 2 Live Crew in Elementary School. I probably had heard their first two albums and a ton of other songs that were obviously about sex and i knew as much.

I dunno some oldie i probably wasn't paying much attention to.

I remember being really young liking the song Man Eater. Maybe i thought it was about a woman who ate men at the time.

My college buddies always thought my superfandom of His Purple Majesty was hilarious...so after we all graduated, one of them...who was in her mid-twenties at the time...performed "Little Red Corvette" at karaoke for her grandmother's birthday party just because she thinks the idea of Prince is funny, but she said she never paid attention to the words before that night. Her elders were reportedly appalled.

I logged in to say this one. I was generally clueless so prince got me a few times. Raspberry beret for instance. I still love that video like few others. Trippy prince might be my 2nd favorite prince after early 80s dirty mind shock value in his drawers get it up prince.

riding with mom dukes one day and it comes on the radio and I'm in the back singing my lil assed heart out. My momma looks at me in the rearview mirror and says "Son.....you DO know what you're singing right now....right?"

2. Marvin Gaye's "Soon I'll Be Loving You"

yeah, sure I knew there was SOMETHING going on...but I didn't realize until waaaaaaaay later that Marvin was singing about giving that poor young girl head.

3. Dominatrix - The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight

Now this was my SHIIIIIIT when I was younger. My brother had tables set up in the room so between this, Newcleus "Jam On It" and MJ's "Thriller" I would spend all day in there. But I had no fucking idea what a Dominatrix was. And what the fuck is up with the men beating there women?

I don't speak Spanish so that was a song that always just felt like an odd song on a classic LP to me. That was until I learned some Espanol..

now when I hear I think of all kinds of dirty stuff..
I got a girl, named Sue,
She knows just what to do
I got a girl, named Sue,
She knows just what to do
I rock to the east, She rock to the west, but
She's the girl

I was in elementary school when that song came out. I thought Sheena Easton was singing about her interior design -- I guess, in a way she was.

I'm a kid sittin around the house with my mother and uncle. Tina Turner's long legs come walking onto the TV screen. I'm mostly just making conversation, but also probably trying to be a little bit smart, so I ask:

What's love got to do with what?

They got the looks on their faces and I almost immediately mentally answered my own question, "oooohhh..."

So now they're over there swallowing laughs tryin to figure out how not to answer my question, and I'm over here turnin red, trying to pretend I don't know the answer.

One of those moments.
