Both have dope beats, but The Chronic has the lyricism of Snoop, Kurupt, Rage, and even RBX. And tracks like "Let Me Ride" and "#@#$a with a Gun" are the best delivered verses that Dre ever did. Lyrically, all Efil... has going for it is Ren.

Efil4zaggin has some silly goofy tracks. I cant quite take it seriously as The Chronic.

If they were both instrumental albums it's a little closer but even still the second half of Efil...falls off HARD whereas The Chronic really has not a single weak production spot. Both can be considered a little vulgar but The Chronic has some social commentary and some top notch lyricism by Snoop, Kurupt, Rage and RBX so....yea The Chronic by a long shot.

But - for the record I love both albums.

but The Chronic just surpassed everything Efil4zaggin tried to deliver, from Lyrics, Beats, Themes, Skits, Misogyny, Etc.

anybody with a young snoop dogg alone ain't gonna lose this battle.

i mean when snoop first came out it was a voice of magic pure and simple.
forget all the contributions on the chronic with DOC,RBX,etc.. that pressence of Snoop alone was the game changer.

and folks who were on things knew after deep cover that Dre and Snoop on anything was unbeatable.

as Great as Ice Cube was back then, he never swung the game as hard and as fast as Snoop did from that time of 92-94 and Cube was as Hot and big for a minute.

4life, in my opinion, was Dre at his peak.

I mean, I know that the lyrics are retarded to the point of being practically unlistenable in the second half in particular. And no, there's no Snoop and since NWA lacked Cube and had Eazy spending most of the time being a clown, the record rests almost solely on Ren and Dre which is clearly not on the same level as Snoop or even Kurupt and RBX.

However, I *still* like it more, mainly because the first half totally rips and while you can hear the G-funk sound coming, it doesn't completely overshadow everything else; no, there's still some of that noisy and hype PE vibe in many cuts.

For the record, a song like "the day..." on CHronic has that vibe too and you can hear it in other cuts too even if it's not the popular ones. Actually, the difference between those albums in terms of beats is not *that* big, if anything, it's a very logical and organic transition when listened to in retrospect.

Whatever, "Efil..." is just more my thing as a whole and regarding the lyrics/content, "the Chronic" is really not THAT much better in that regard if you think about it...

But yes, the introduction of Snoop is clearly something special but since I was never really a fan of dude like that even if I appreciate his style and flow, I suspect that aspect means less to me than it does for many others...
