"New found appreciation for Naughty By Nature " Fri Jul-10-15 10:19 AM by maro
It recently dawned on me that I never listened to any full length NBN album. Sure I know the hits, but I never dived into their catalog... until this week. Thanks Spotify.
Holy Hell, I'm kinda blown away. I'm completely stuck on Poverty's Paradise. Feel me flow, Craziest, Sunshine and my now go to track - world go round.... fuck that michael sample is ILL
And Good God Treach is beast. I mean, I always knew he could flow, but ripping apart a 20 track album is tremendous. And the Beats. The Beats are the essence of that true East Coast Boom Bap. DOPE.
I'm so happy when shit like this happens. made my week, looking forward to hearing the rest of the catalog.

Def underrated as a group and it's a damn shame Treach doesn't get his props. Stick to the first three albums though. You'll be disappointed listening to anything after that.

In spring 2003 or 2004 that was totally unbelievable. One of the top 5 best shows I've ever seen, and that's saying something as I've seen a million shows, and 750,000 really fucking good ones. They were just that good, that energetic, that live, and played all the hits as well as the best album cuts.
Anyway I agree with you all, Treach is super underrated and NbN in general doesn't get the props they deserve I don't think.

commercially, that people forget how talented they were, and that they were always true to the art.
Hell, Hip Hop Hooray is basically an anthem, about....Hip Hop, at least in the chorus. But because it became so huge, along with OPP, people seem to only mention them as a regular commercial novelty act.

I think Naughty is the most underrated, great Hip Hop group of all time. They had Iconic hits, underground respect and were a great live act. So many artists could learn from the Naughty formula of gritty rhymes with melody and crossover appeal without pandering. Even after they weren't at the top of their game they were still capable of dropping bangers like "Dirt All By My Lonely" and "Feel Me Flow".

but it wasn't on the level of their self titled album or 19Naughtythree in my opinion. It was more uneven. If i were to point someone who wasn't familiar with Naughty towards the albums they should check out it would be those 2 albums and not necessarily Poverty's Paradise.

19 Naughty III had better singles but Poverty's Paradise had the better album cuts and overall album. I agree that they were on the decline popularity-wise during that time.

Goofiest popular rap group of that era. Kept a weak album and Treach is an all-time doofus with an overrated, corny flow. And he got whooped by Kay Gee.
