And trust me I looked.
I even read this: "Access to the Beats 1 radio stream is restricted to the iOS Music app and iTunes logged in with a valid Apple ID." right off Apple's site.

That seems to be correct. You need an Apple ID and the apple music app (which you get if you update to ios 8.4). If you open the music app it will ask if you want to subscribe. When you choose 'no' it will still let you let you listen to beats 1 in the radio tab.
I just tried this using an alternate apple id without aan apple music subscription.

Its in Apple's best interest to position these shows as appointment listening. If they "on demand" them, the urgency they're currently benefiting from goes out the window

Shit is jammin'! I have to say, I was more skeptical than most about what this whole Apple Radio thing was going to be, and while I do think there are a few areas in which there could be improvements, it's their first week and I'm LOVING it.

I agree..
Beats1 is not a radio station that plays songs start to finish. It's a collage. It's sound bites, it's mixes, it's blends, it's a narration. It's a mixtape. I love it! I love the enthusiasm from the folks curating the tracks. It's a blend of Benji B, Kool Dj Red Alert, Gilles all blended into this.
It's everything they teach us NOT to do in radio. and I love it!
can still listen thru Itunes...there was a website that re streamed but apple took it down...
Android users will have it in a few months....
