I don't know....the whole guitar = sex thing is a classic trope that has been used by blues men and beyond...This is not some brilliant or "smart" thing...It's some old school blues/rock n roll word play shit...Dude "playing" his guitar as a chick moans is a nod to the blues tradition....It's sex....

I've been feeling that way about alotta his music for a while (since Emancipation, perhaps).
That LotusFlower joint might be the last time he really captured his former self.

I really have no problem with Prince not being the same artist he was in the late 80s/early 90s.
I'm just not fond of him imitating that person....
Just be 50something yr old Prince. I'm very sure that guy has something of value to offer.

And Prince has something unique going on in that his writing doesn't have any increasing
depth as he ages. Prince used to write some stuff that some might consider "deep",
but it's he's lost all his depth as he aged, which is somewhat peculiar.
Like, don't you have some life lessons you can infuse into the lyrics at this point?

Most artists excel at other things as what they're known for fades.
I don't expect his voice to be what it used to be. His screams here are not what they
were 25 years ago, and that's the be expected,
(but why try to be that guy since they're not?)
His energy isn't gonna be the same, and that's also to be expected.
It seems the only thing Prince does at a consistently high level now is play guitar.
Maybe that's why he centered this song around guitar. I actually think that's a
really good idea considering it's what's amazing about him these days.
