These dudes def aren't a band I listen to much but why do we dislike them so much? Is it the success of the Dookie and American Idiot albums? Is the music just that bad? Do they not have any good albums in their catalog? I remember the Nimrod album being pretty solid. Why do you hate Green Day?

I don't hate 'em....I think they r pretty good at what they do....
Most of the "hate" though is two-fold.....There's the lazy, predictable fan reaction when a band becomes bigger than Jesus....
And then there's the fact that Green Day's influence went on to produce a legion of bullshit bands that were not half as good as them (Good Charlotte, Blink 182, Sum 41, early Fallout Boy, ect....)...I think this pisses people off even more...lol....
But u can't blame Green Day for that....
GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

I do hate that they are a first ballot inductee into the Rock Hall of Fame. i think what I hate is their critical success. Their Lookout Records output is some of my favorite music of all time, and Dookie is the soundtrack to my high school memories. Fuck, my senior quote is a line from "F.O.D."
But with that love, I never thought of them as a BIG band. The stadiums, the concept albums, the rock operas and stuff like that just all seemed fake to me. Mostly because their songwriting never felt strong enough to justify any of it. But even that, I don't hate them for trying and pushing themselves. But when critics started eating it up and thinking it was "important," I found myself tuning em out. I'm willing to even admit that it might just be a case of hipset "I liked em better when..." But I could never get into any of it. "Time of Your Life" was kind of the turning point for me.
And like someone said above, the bands that sprung from Green Day can for the most part all send me into an annoyed rage, so that doesn't help their cause.
As for other people, let's never forget that the band was always hated by the punk community for being too pop. I think some of the hate they get is still leftover from that.
