"Michael Jackson's "history" turns 20"

much Props to the King of Pop and the Goat of the 80's and he had no rivals. the man changed the course of music period.

anyway with History he went Gil scott heron on matters.

stranger in moscow was his last great song he wrote IMO

you are not alone a classic

Earth Song very moving

money was tight.

this time around was gangsta.

they don't care about us directed at these racist cops and agency's period.

strong songwriting, production and he can with it.

for Scream.

G Funk for Come TOgether and "this time around".

DJ QUik on the track Money would have worked IMO.

Had he cut another 5 songs ie:

- This time around (filler imho; MJ trying to sound tough)
- Dom sheldon (be it a bad man, he inspired an even worse "song")
- Come together (love it, but old and terribly out of place)
- Childhood or little susie or smile (a little bit of MJ drama is cool, but not 3x imho)
- Tabloid junkie or 2 bad (loved TJ when it came out as well as the vocals on 2nd verse of 2 bad, but both joints are a bit "2" much, esp one after the other).

That would've made HIStory a solid disc imo.

Glad to have heard that other music though.

That Biggie verse is fire though

True

True

I'd keep Smile. The other two can go though
>- Tabloid junkie or 2 bad (loved TJ when it came out as well

I'd keep both but I agree with separating the two

With a a little trimming and a revised tracklist, its definitely a strong album. Its the one MJ album thats really personal. Even though I can't directly relate to some of the sentiments on the album I can certainly FEEL his sentiments on all of the songs. Every vocal performance is emotionally charged

now I was not ever really a fan of anything but the lyrics (and the prison-themed video) on that song for the most part until recently

but seeing that with the Mike impersonator out there really hit me

i remember really looking forward to that 'one night alone' beacon theatre gig that never was. that was 1995 right? another thing i forever hoped to see was mike doing an unplugged. not focusing on the moves and stage show so much but just on the voice.

you know, his performance of 'who is it' on the oprah show or 'gone too soon' during clinton's inauguration. pfffff. proof of how good this guy could sing and that singing alone would be enough (something he must've wondered himself throughout the years).

imagine him sitting on a bar stool in front of a dope band (like george michael later on?) singing stuff like 'stranger in moscow', getting those olodum percussionists on board during 'they dont care about us' and not to mention boyz to men and the adrea crouch choir during 'history'. to top it all off w janet during a sly'd up version of 'scream'.

and that's just the 'history' stuff. how he could kill the classics of him and his brothers.

could've been something... dang.

can't believe this was NEVER considered by him and his team.
