"The Writer's Bench: Hip Hop's DOPEST Album Covers"
This week we're chopping it up about hip hop's dopest album covers, how important album cover art (front, back, inserts, etc.) was to the game and did a wack cover equal a wack album? My question for ya'll is, if you could only pick one what would your favorite album cover be and why? And can you think of an artist who's album cover art dictated if the album was dope or not. For exp. Big Daddy Kane's Long Live the Kane...dope cover and dope album, It's A Big Daddy Thing, dope cover and dope album, Taste of Chocolate, wack cover and wack album lol!

Good ep. Wish I could have made it so I could rep the south. The Death Certificate cover was serious as hell and def one of my favorite album covers. LOL at the Nas album cover convo. He ran that theme in the ground. First was classic, second was cool. By the time I Am came out it was like "dude, seriously do something else with the cover" but he was like wait http://goo.gl/uqMz5X. Dah Shinin' was another favorite of mine as well.
A few other album covers I love:
ATLiens: Kast are my heroes so it's only right that they get the comic book treatment.
Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde: The cover looked how the album sounds. It was the perfect match.
Soul Food: Just the image of brotherhood. Family gathered around the table, heads bowed reminded me of Sunday dinners at my grandmother's

I think it gets a worse rap than it should, but the album did have some heat on it. Now Prince of Darkness, on the other hand, was simply ass crack

Dope episode...dopest cover? For me it's gotta be Straight Outta Compton. I remember thinking it was from the view point of somebody they beat down looking up at them. But from peeping the ep I wonder if this was a play on the Roy Ayers cover ya'll was talking about that Smif n Wessun did. The wackest cover? I gotta go with Beezo and say any of the No Limit album covers.

I always loved the Beastie Boys vinyl cover for Licensed to Ill because it was a gatefold and I remember being young not knowing when you opened it up the plane crashed. Nothing amazing but just a dope memory from my childhood.
i'll resign on gettin hype when cats front on us for things i think we should be contenders for (when its "list time")---but it burns me when we dont get praise for our album covers. i feel like we have the best streak of quality artwork.
