I was about to pre-order a record yesterday and they were like, "NO DOWNLOAD CARD INCLUDED" in megacaps.
Which kind of annoyed me. While you can argue there are bandwidth costs, its kinda shitty to not include a digital download/separately charge for one. FLAC should be mandatory for any physical purchase one makes.
And though I definitely appreciate the digital download and the choice of bitrate would be nice, I personally don't need FLAC. If I need to listen to the best quality, I'll listen to the record I just bought...

I don't really care if an album comes with a download cause I can really find their album as a bootleg download if I wanted, most of the time I already have it just wanted a physical copy after already knowing how the album sounds.
Today's prices on vinyl is crazy back in the day an album would cost $15 to $25, now kats wanna charge $25 to $50 for that shit, they crazy, and no it doesn't take more money to press up vinyl than fifteen years ago, kats just want to charge as much as possible; so yeah I can see why they want tell you the expensive price tag comes with a free download in mp3/lossless files, and extra 121x12 photos inside; and they still fuck you over when they include bonus tracks on the cd but not the vinyl.
I rather they include music that the cd buyers aren't getting if I'm going to pay twice as much, but do I really care if they give you the best quality digital format or a download card at all...no, but that's just cause I'm use to there not being one.

...I'm definitely not in that boat.
vinyl to me is an alternative, nostalgic, romantic listening experience, reserved for those albums I REALLY really like.
but for me, "the best" sound quality is the closest thing that the mastering engineer will hear when he's mastering the project, which I understand (correctly? incorrectly?) nowadays as the highest-resolution digi copy. AND, if I'm not mistaken, all vinyl today is pressed from digi masters anyway. gone are the days of tape masters specific for vinyl projects. but maybe the recent vinyl resurgence will change this. fingers crossed.
with that in mind, if I'm gonna pay $20 for an album, I'd love to have a high-res digital copy come with my vinyl so 1, I can have the best-available-per-my-preferences digi copy of the album, and 2, so I can compare and really understand the sound differences between the formats.
