"The Dark" the drummin's dope on this one, again. I think his genius comes from his ability to replicate drum breaks, but not just by getting the same drum pattern. But the original feel of the break. It may seem obvious, but it's not and it's understated. Because on the "Dilla Joints," I was able to identify a lot of tracks based on the swing, but more so on the "sound." As far as this track, the strings were crazy, and had a premo feel to them. how they'd drop in and out. The rhodesy chords sounded good, but they were kinda clashing. Like Dilla vs Premo. It's cool, but if i were choosing beats I'd probably skip it, or ask if we could rework it.
"Goodbye Isaac" is dope. that's the track right there. I think the drummin he's doing on it, is based on an Isaac Hayes song, but I can't remember exactly which one. But I remember sampling the break. I called it "ride out," or "midnight" or something like that. The whole track itself feels good. The piano goes where you want it to, and the bass does enough. Anyways, that's "one of those tracks that seems like it would write itself."
I know I listened to Goodbye Isaac before, but i don't remember if I actually posted a response or not. I start to type responses and sometimes don't actually post them. So if I did already, my bad.
