When I say 'Black Roots Rock I mean simply that the frontwoman is Black and is very influenced by Black traditional forms. (She calls it Southern roots rock, fwiw.) She'll remind you of Valerie June, for sure, but with a modified Janelle 'do and Odetta pipes.
