"CHOPS15 Challenge#3 - Broken Mirror" Sun Feb-15-15 06:29 AM by _Torchbaras
Aight, its that time again!!!
You know how you be listening to old beats thinkin, damn I shoulda done somethin diff, went hipitch instead of lo, EQd the drums diff or whatever? Yeah, that feelin. Somethings keepin you from goin back tho. Maybe goin back seems stupid, as youre sposed to move forward!?
Heres your chance.
Rules are simple.
1) Make a DOPE beat. Let it simmer for a while. Be proud. 2) Make ANOTHER DOPE beat using the SAME chops to create somethin new and fresh!
NO, you cannot load a 15 sec. Chop and have beat A trigger from 0-7 and beat B from 8-14 wiseass. Chops hastahave the SAME offsets/starting points. Other than that, get creative!!!
Oh yeah, and yall are missin #2. Its was a great challenge BTW lol...
--------- "We in here talking about later career Prince records & your fool ass is cruising around in a time machine trying to collect props for a couple of sociopathic degenerates" - s.blak
Supadope stringchords - real laid back how they play out and the sound is extra rich!!!
Dont know what you did to that drumbreak - it halts and it doesnt, flows and it doesnt, and its really all ova the place with that delayed layerin lol – still, it works with yo main line!!!
Trumpet is def. a dope addition, a bit hard on the ears with them hi mids tho...
Good shit!!!
#2
Ahh, the drums again. Again, thats a trip how you work the delay on em...
Im guessin the main line is the same one I heard as strings in pt. 1 but here they sound more like some organs with lil extra instruments in the mix that I cant quite put my finger on... If thats the same chops you def. went and tweaked!!!
Trumpet is a bit further away from the main melody with this one, off at times, still a nice add tho!
Also, whats that reversed perc come from???
ALL in ALL, Your beats do sound a LOT alike, both in terms of vibe and mixin of sounds – its clear that they came from the same beatmaker, but the main lines could be from separate places, which was really the point of this test – to see how broad the spectrum is for taking certain sounds different places, when manipulated in different ways and settings!!!
