"WMG will reportedly pay for a three to five percent equity stake of SoundCloud. According to the Times' source, past copyright infringements against SoundCloud will be indemnified."

...& mash-ups that people make own their own, that's if I read the article right, they will consider it as an exclusive soundcloud remix/mash-up & the uploader of that mix/edit will be in the clear, but if they upload it anywhere else then they will be in liable.
I'm just mad I now gotta pay to upload my own music, even though I "could" get paid when somebody listens to it, idk, I'm headed over to hearthis.at.

then again I'm not posting or listening to any otherwise-copyrighted music... so for DJ mixes, etc., this may actually somewhat improve flexibility (at least if you're using the previously approved selections from the Warner catalog.)
As for paid subscriptions, no idea how that'll work. I'm already at the $40 level just so I put up all the stuff i make, and I'm getting very close to having that full so have been planning to upgrade to the unlimited account before too long.
*shrug* I'll reserve panic until it's proven to have a negative effect.

I thought it was crazy that radio stations were using the soundcloud link for 0-100. I think it was a way to control access for big artists. I probably would've done the same if I was Warner Bros.
