I went to high school with Sam in coastal NC and always knew him as a rapper first. Before Art Lord and the Self Portraits, before Baltimore and Future Islands, I remember talking with him about Organized Konfusion in Biology class and hearing him kick some freestyles during lunch.

Glad to see his band get every ounce of success after that incredible Letterman performance (he really has transformed and progressed tremendously as an artist), but I wanted to share this in case some of you here wanted to hear Sam's other musical path: him as the rapper Hemlock Ernst.
