how far we still have to go, especially in my state. Hell, I said "I don't subscribe to false naivete/acting like it's all good, I know where I stay". I put that part about the rednecks bumping Pac because I used to work at a car wash & have to prep these cars w/rebel flags & I used to ask these folk while vacuuming, "Hey, what does that flag mean to you?" They would say, "honestly, my folks had it up at the crib & I get the historical concept but truly....shit. I mean, it's just a symbol of the south but fuck all the racist, slavery shit behind it." I've heard that variation of an answer a plethora of times, as well as older guy who's answer was pointing at the American flag, which I see as no different historically as far as representing fucked up actions done by a population but I digress, and said "same as that one." For the folk that are now grown in the south, like the 70s babies, 80s, etc.,that flag has lost its significance. Again, I'm not no Uncle Remus ass dude, in fact, this is the 1st I've ever been on some inclusive shit w/whites. I'm saying this is a mindset of a progressive south that keeps its southern values but getting out of that old shit too. I'm just tryna spark somn positive starting with/the folk where I'm from. I know these crackers don't want us getting along, don't want us progressing but they can't stop Joleen & Jasper from listening to Hip-Hop & if Joleen & Jasper are heirs to who will run the state & get influenced from some shit from their own backyard of Alabama & the state FINALLY gets Lotto for school funds & other shit, then so be it.
