But it really makes no difference as to what you get. They are both very powerful and dope programs, and while certain factors might sway you one way or another (what it is that you're trying to do, what your experience level is like with other programs/pieces of hardware), at the end of the day it's all about the creator, not the tools.
That said, I use Maschine and love it. I have friends who have used Ableton and they rave about it, and I know that it has been embraced by people across the board (and is especially good for a live setting). If you have any questions about the former, let me know.
yes I'm thinking of leaning more towards ableton because it seems to better for more musical variety ( i like r&b, funk, jazz) but I've heard great things about maschine so i was looking for more personal input. but yes definitely you are right that it just depends on the creator and not the tool.

I have both, and use both together. You can integrate maschine into ableton and use it to layer into the beat. This is definitely how I prefer to do it. Sample in ableton, sequence in ableton, add additional layers and drums from maschine into ableton.
As you can see though, I am more reliant on ableton - so if you say choose one or another, I am certainly going to go with ableton. If you can't afford both, get ableton and then get maschine.

Unless NI adds more mixer functionality in coming updates, I'll continue to use them in tandem. if you have to choose, get Ableton by itself and a good keyboard controller, or bundled with Push.

I've seen a live demo, and it looks dope, especially with the easy chord playing and aftertouch stuff. By the time Push dropped, I had already spent time and money on Maschine. Check Ableton's YouTube channel for videos on Push. It'll probably sell you on it pretty hard.

They are not the same thing.. Dont think of maschine as a standalone DAW.. Im sure it can be used as such but most folks us it as a hands on vst IN a daw like ableton

Thats what I'm thinking. I'm not really using it mainly for betaking I'm more into using it for recording purposes
