I'd much rather hear Pharoahe Monche over El-P beats than Nas. Not due to backpacker-ish feelings in that I feel Pharoahe Monche is that much better than Nas, but I think Monche's flows mesh better sonically with El-P than Nas' smoother flows does.
>and my problems with Monch's recent work has been production >so that would be perfect
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder was pretty solid IMO, but I do agree with you in terms of his solo material. And I think the chaotic nature of the majority of El-P's beats would mesh Monche's multi-upon-multi-syllabic flow perfectly.

Stress is one of my favorite albums of all time, regardless of genre, but to be honest outside of Desire and of course his debut, his solo efforts haven't REALLY moved me, though I will say that his latest was better than WAR, which in particular for me was a very disappointing album

because that shit would be fire, El-P is a producer who knows how to adjust his style to suit the MCs he works with, while at the same time somehow keeping it sounding "El-Pish"
and taking into account that Nas is my favorite MC ever and his last album was flames....
