It's solid...a couple missteps that I think aren't really his lane ("One More Shot", "Jackin Chevys") and it's pretty heavy on the NWA homages, but glad that he's back with Rashad. His output post LWN was a little spotty.

Solid album. Some of the mixing sounds off though. Don't know if it's just me. Especially on "Free". De La represented as usual on the album too. Props to Ross for letting Stalley create his album the way he wanted.

It's not even wack. In fact it's kinda hot. The production is dope which is to be expected. The boy has a nice ear but I was worried about him staying on said beats. For most of the songs (read all those not call Always Into Something) he stays on beat and his flow really fits the production. Album artwork is nice and overall I think dude got a nice lil sleeper album on his hands. "Booming" might be my favorite.
The singles sound better in context of the album. He might still catch a brick because people don't know who he is but I dig it.

Only MMG release I think is better than this is Teflon Don. But as far as the signees, this is the best one. Stalley isn't crazy with technical skills, or even charisma, but he's got a great ear (Rashad KILLS this album on the production), and really strong understanding of song structure and how to deliver on a topic. This album really goes in the car, too.

This album is made for the car.

And I'll pretty much buy anything he comes out with as long he stays operating at the level you just described. I'm pretty much a fan.

Stalley needs to really buckle down on his songwriting for his next record. He has a great ear for beats, now he's got to figure out how to craft songs that are as compelling as the music.
I liked Navajo Rugs, but mostly because of De La.
I met Stalley, he's a heckuva nice guy, so I'm pulling for him to win. He needs better songs, though. Read some books, watch some foreign films, visit some museums, find some inspiration.
side note: kudos to Stalley for avoiding over reliance on gender slurs. Misogyny has gotten so bad in rap that when I encounter an album with little of it, I'm shocked. For that alone, I hope he wins.

Production was absolutely top notch and there were some really good songs on it. I doubt he'll get to drop another one on Atlantic with those numbers. Shame.
