Fuck those publications who don't mention this album in the classic debate. We don't fuck with them anyway. So as far as I'm concerned, the people who matter ALWAYS mention this one.

ever since i heard this album i've been listening to nothing but golden era hip hop.
EPMD. Boggie Down Productions. LL Cool J MC lyte
i didn't used to get it. like i'd heard the albums but i didn't feel them.
now i do.
it's about a feeling. and it's about a sense of black pride that's not even explicit. it's an energy that can't be contained.
then i went back and listened to public enemy and those albums hit harder after listening to the stuff that came before it.
it sounds like a world opening up that i'd never seen or heard before. and I notice a distinct absence of silly love songs that i am not at all in the mood to hear right now.
it's about, "i'm awesome, in a way they nobody else can be. not because you suck, but because everybody is a star."
all i want to hear now is golden era hip hop, and it all started with me getting stuck on this album because of this post.
